The western wedding dresses now have been prevalent all around the world. Magnificence, showiness and brightness are the features of them. The gauze, the silk, the satin, and the lace together weave beautiful dreams for all girls who are about to be wives. The shinning colors and fine texture of the dresses tell the purity and romance of girls.

Most western wedding dresses more or less have a touch of vintage style. As early as the 14th century, the cotehardie with pannier inside became the classic and traditional wedding dress.

Such a traditional western wedding dress used laces to adorn the back and the lap. The sleeves of the cotehardie were long and close fitted and the lap was inflated by pannier. Until the 20th century, not only wedding dresses, but also nearly all other women dresses had panniers to enlarge the laps. And the dresses with panniers and inflated laps, now, become the main trend of western wedding dresses.

But nowadays, designers begin to try some modern styles. There are also some close fitted wedding dresses emerging. Besides, there have more sleeveless wedding dresses that are loved by many girls who are about to marry.

The western wedding dresses, in fact, inherit lots of elements of old clothing fashion and are now followed by most countries rather than western countries themselves.
